Curator’s Notes

From opening their eyes to taking the first step, it’s incredible to see how fast babies grow. Hender Scheme’s First Shoes not only provide protection for tiny toes but also marks and commemorates their development as they grow. Made of raw cow hide, the leather will patina over time and carry the traces of a baby’s steps as they walk and then run through the beginning of their life. This pair of wingtips features brogue details that make them almost as adorable as the baby in them.
