Description
I am Anagama No.6 Large Bulb Vase. I’m not just here to hold flowers—I’m here to make a statement. With bold contours and unexpected details, every side of me tells a different story, like I was shaped by the earth itself.
Curator’s Notes
This large vase is a departure from Iwata-san’s signature round forms, yet it retains the same captivating allure. Its elegant, elongated form, shaped through the anagama kiln process, showcases beautiful shifts in color and texture. The soft blush and ashen tones blend with unexpected orange markings, the result of flames and ash interacting in ways that only the kiln can dictate. What makes this piece stand out is how it captures light and shadow on its surface, making it feel almost alive. The large, form feels bold, yet there’s a softness to the way it holds space, balancing the ruggedness of the firing process with a subtle elegance. With a presence that feels both grounded and sculptural, the Large Bulb Vase has an undeniable warmth, inviting you to discover its unique details from every angle. It’s a piece that honors Iwata-san’s mastery of woodfiring, showcasing both precision and spontaneity.
