Description
I am a Bamboo Box. Bam! Boo! Did I scare you?
Curator’s Notes
I love this clever design that showcases the natural character of the miraculous bamboo plant. The entire piece is made of bamboo, the lid carved from a single shoot, and the body of the box crafted from sheets of bamboo that have been steam rolled to create straight surfaces. Durable and light, its narrow shape is ideal for storing chopsticks on the tabletop, keeping them neatly contained but easily within reach. Bamboo is well-known for its versatility and usefulness, but has a deeper cultural significance in Japan. It symbolizes prosperity, continuous growth, and strength – noble ideas to think of each time you open this box.
