Curator’s Notes
Design studio Simplicity aims to bring traditional Japanese culture to a modern audience. With each piece they create, they take traditional elements and streamline the design to improve and make it current. For instance, these chopsticks seem basic at first glance, but upon closer look reveal inspired details. The ends taper to a precise point, which not only looks elegant, but also makes the chopsticks easier to grip food. One side of each chopstick has been sliced to create a flat surface, preventing them from rolling when placed on the table.
