Description

I am a Hook D Brass Line Tea Needle. I may be delicate but looks are deceiving. True strength comes from within.

Curator’s Notes

This tea needle, that functions like a traditional chashaku ladle, is one of the many ways in which Konishi plays with the intersection of practical and sculptural. The clearly handcrafted form feels intentional and will illicit a response no matter what beverage it’s placed in. It also helps to push the evolution of ancient rituals — to pick and separate tea leaf clusters. The pointy end can be used to remove tea leaves stuck in the strainer. In modern day-to-day tea drinking routines, it can be used to transfer loose tea into a teapot, with the help of a Hagakure scoop, or be used to stir other warm drinks, and even iced drinks, like cocktails.
