Curator’s Notes

Life may be no cakewalk, but a slice of good cake can help. I find that the mirror finish of traditional cake servers makes conspicuous the smear of icing and crumb. Narita-san’s modern take on a cake server has a frosty finish and elegant shape that elevates even my humble homemade confections. Marks of grease are camouflaged against the matte, dappled surface, which reminds me of the soft texture of freshly spread buttercream.
