Description
I am a Hohin Flat Teapot. Sometimes my jokes fall flat, but it’s not the content, it’s my delivery.
Curator’s Notes
Some say that tea brewed in a flat teapot tastes better than tea brewed in a rounder one. The water absorbs smoothly and evenly as the leaves spread across a greater surface area rather than piling up within a deeper pot. This results in a brew with a rich, mellow flavor. As the tea leaves unravel in the wide, flat basin of this clay teapot, they are better exposed to the air, allowing for better oxidation and enhanced taste. Also, the wideness of the basin causes the temperature of the water to drop at a faster rate, preventing the bitter notes that arise when tea is brewed too hot or too long.
