Description

I am a Noir Urushi Ice Cream Cup. Some might say I’m rather mysterious – dark as the night and cool like ice, but took a closer look, I’ve got the warmth of wood at my core.

Curator’s Notes

The Noir Ice Cream Cup, a close relative to our original collaboration, the White Ice Cream Cup from a couple years ago, is a collaborative work with Ryuji Mitani. It was inspired by the concept of our exhibition entitled “A Deeper Dark”. The black lacquered version offers such a beautiful contrast to the creamy tones of ice cream.

Details

• Handcrafted in Matsumoto, Japan
• Do not soak urushi lacquered pieces in water for prolonged periods
• Each piece is unique and will have variations
• Wash with a soft sponge and mild dish soap. Rinse with warm water
• Wipe with a cloth and dry well
• Urushi lacquer will become less glossy and more matte as time goes by
• Not dishwasher safe
