Curator’s Notes

Narita-san doesn’t normally make a bowl of this size. It is a custom piece for our Forging Shadows exhibition with the artisan. The textures achieved in his hand hammered stainless steel pieces really remind us of the moon’s surface so we thought it would be appropriate to request a super simple large bowl. Its intended to be a fruit bowl or a big bowl for a coffee table. The overall shape is simple so it speaks about the textures and the shadows that they create.
