Description
I am a Silver Oval Tray. Think outside the circle.
Curator’s Notes
This Oval Tray is a beautiful example of the unique forms Ando-san can achieve through the Japanese tatara technique of hand forming slabs of clay. Unlike hand thrown stoneware which usually is restricted to round forms, this Oval Tray take on an uncommon, elongated shape. The uneven rim at the tray’s edges reveals the hand forming process that allows Ando-san to work beyond the limits of circular items, while also making each piece different and unique.
