Curator’s Notes

The simplicity of these wood plates give them a timeless strength, despite the delicate edge appearing paper thin from the top. We loved working with Makoto Koizumi to create exclusive pieces designed with heart to be at once beautiful, functional, and versatile. These plates work as simple coasters, for the wood is lightly coated with a food-safe matte layer to prevent staining, and as small-scale serving dishes. Each plate features the varying grain patterns of Japanese Toshi wood.
