Curator’s Notes

This spouted cup brings the inherent beauty of clay to the forefront. The material’s lack of iron oxide creates the deep charcoal color, and the lack of glaze allows you to admire the mineral deposits and particles that create its texture. Light striations are visible on the sides of the cup, reminding of the potter wheel’s circular motion. The small size works well as a pouring vessel for dressings and sauces or a milk pitcher.
