Curator’s Notes

The clean, simple shape of this step stool from Azmaya balances the need for strength while being lightweight. Drawing on a slight A-line shape and the engineering behind Japanese wood joinery, the stool can hold up to 130 kg without the use of hardware in its construction. Its design highlights the warmth and raw beauty of hinoki cypress, and its height and narrower depth has ample reach without being obtrusive. Easy to carry and tuck away, the step stool is a reliable support at home or in the office.
