Description
I am a Turtle Cast Iron Incense Holder. Sometimes ancient tradition takes a slow and steady turn. Can you see the twist in my smoke-filled shell?
Curator’s Notes
I fell in love with this little green turtle the moment I saw it. Crafted by Oigen, a foundry steeped in the Nambu Tekki tradition, it’s a playful yet elegant piece that adds character to any space. The removable shell, with its delicate perforations, lets wisps of incense smoke escape in the most charming way. It’s made to last for generations, and I adore how it combines whimsical design with deep-rooted craftsmanship. Every time I use it, I’m reminded of the careful balance between tradition and fun—a small but meaningful ritual in my day and a reminder to take it easy.
