Description

I am a Wood and Enamel Salt Cellar. When great minds and great materials meld, the result is something as beautiful as me!

Curator’s Notes

Ryuji Mitani collaborated with friend Masaki Kanamori to create this piece. Enamel is often perceived in modern times as mass manufactured, but Kanamori is an enamel artist who makes his works entirely by hand. The texture and saturation of handmade enamelware is incomparable to machine made versions. Mitani’s smooth black walnut wood lid follows in sentiment. The size is ideal for the dining table to hold flaky finishing salts like Maldon.
