Description
I am a Wooden Cheese Knife. I may be smooth to the touch, but look a little closer and you’ll see that I’m not so clean cut.
Curator’s Notes
The shape of this cheese knife reminds us of retro American cutlery that was made with either enamelware or bakelite handles. However, Ryuji Mitani has put his own contemporary twist on these shapes. The entire knife is handcrafted from a single piece of wood. The silhouette is like the wooden shadow of the retro knives that came before it but unlike metal cutlery, this knife is surprisingly light in your hand while still feels strong enough to cut through chunks of cheese with it’s thin edged blade.
Wooden Cheese Knife was curated by Stevenson Aung.
